03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

So I'm ranting about my poor performance at Best Buy once again. That place really makes me feel like shit. For example, last Sunday, we had great PSP (Performance Service Plan) sales, it was about 11% when our goal's 6%. My friend Ly (pronounced Lee) sold about 8 out of 12 cameras he sold, and got praise from the manager for doing so. The other day, this other new girl sold about 8, and Jerry sold one on almost every camera he sold.

Guess how many I sold that said day. 1. And that's a maybe because I didn't stay with the customer through the transaction.

Normally, I wouldn't care much, but everyone keeps saying to me, "Sell PSPs! Sell PSPs!" Shit, people, what the hell do you think I'm doing with these customers? I try, and I swear I try my hardest at selling these fucking things, but some people just don't want to buy them! My supervisor keeps telling me the steps for selling one, "Plant seed, ask narrowing questions." Seriously, work has turned into a task that is even more stressful than school. At least I achieve some level of success at school. The entire thing is just pointless.

I can see and sense the sentiments of everyone in my department, "Why hasn't she sold that many PSPs? What is wrong with her?" You may think that I'm exaggerating, but come visit me at work, and you'll see that it's completely true.

There was this other time when a person went into the computers department looking for a digital camera, this guy Mike pointed in our direction and said, "Ask her, she's the best." Like, you fucking bastard, please don't be patronizing because that's just more shit that I'd need to deal with.

I also don't like people telling me things I already know. For example, the senior people keep telling me "look out for customers; stand near the front." Hello!!!! I was on my way to the front side of our department, and I know how to greet people. This one guy in particular really pisses me off, and he's usually the one telling me where to stand. It's not that I can't take orders or anything, because it's not under me to comply to the requests of others, but my good lord, if he wants me to greet customers, then he should get off the fucking phone and do the same.

Plus, everytime I pass by this certain manager, he always asks me, "Hey Emily! How are the PSPs going..." ; and I'm not going to lie, although I really should start, but I usually say, "Okay, I guess..." and it's the same shit all over again: "Remember, plant seeds for them early in the sale!" Okay, will do. *cue in the rolling eyes*

Also, we don't have as many people in the media department as there should be. As a result, people wander into our section looking for products that we know very little about. One night, I was back from the front cash lanes when I got stopped by about 10 people, all inquiring about merchandise we have in our entertainment section. I went to do an inventory check on the iPods, and one of the senior guys sort of got mad at me because I'm supposed to stay in our department; if customers are asking for help in media, find a media person...thing is, there are hardly any media people, or they're extremely hard to find.

I don't know how much longer I can take this. I'm getting a whole truckload of money out of this job, but I don't know if it's worth my sanity.

If I can switch into Operations or to any department where we don't need to sell PSPs...I'd do so in a second.
